Friday Night Challenge Ladders
Started as pilot project in 2011 are our Friday Night Challenge Ladders. They will be held every Friday night from 7pm to 11pm and will have priority on courts 2, 3 & 4 (and 1 when lessons are over). You do not need to attend every Friday for this event, but the more weeks you attend the more chance you have of climbing to the top of your ladder. The event will be run the entire season from May to October.
There will be a ladder for each category:
· mens singles · ladies singles · mens doubles (must sign up with a partner) · ladies doubles (must sign up with a partner) · mixed doubles (must sign up with a partner)
This will be a great opportunity for:
- league players to practice
- housleague players to improve their competitive play
- any other members looking to meet and challenge players at their own level
How does it work?
-
You must register yourself (and partner) in the category you wish to play in (you may enter multiple categories).
-
You will start with 0 points at the bottom of the ladder (you can register any time during the season).
-
After you are registered, the matches are self organized. Come to the club on Friday between 7-11pm and find other players/teams that are participating in the ladder and challenge them. Report your match score once you are done.
You will receive:
1 point for playing a match (win, lose or tie)
1 additional point for winning vs a player/team who has less or equal points as you
2 additional points for winning vs a player/team who has more points than you
A list of participants with current points will be updated after each Friday and available before each Friday so you will know who you wish to challenge or play against amongst. Of course you will have the best chance of climbing your ladder by playing players/teams who are in a similar point range as you are.
Match Rules:
√ Balls are provided (these are regular monitored hours)
√ Tag up for a court as you normally would as a regular member
√ Courts 2, 3 & 4 (and 1 when lessons are over) are reserved for ladder matches
√ Courts 5,6 can be used and tagged up on as you normally would as a regular member but will not be reserved for ladder matches
√ Agree with your opponents on warm up time and play as you would a regular set, but continue to play games in the service order for the duration of your court booking (do not stop after winning 6 games as in a regular set)
√ Whatever your game score is at the end of your court time is, is your final score (this could be a tie)
√ Remember and report your score with the category and names of all participants for your match so that the ladder lists can be updated
We hope the Friday Night Challenge Ladders will allow all our members to meet and play other members at their own skill level for fun and competitive matches.
Round Robins
Monday night Round Robins introduced to the club in 2011. Note: These events will not be held every Monday night, they will be held approx once a month. Similar to our daytime holiday events, there will be food/refreshments and organized Round Robin play
